Hey dog.

She's got so much to say and so very little time in which to say it.

The real nightmare's when you wake up.

She needs to warn her, to absolve her of her guilt, she needs to say goodbye.

you need Dresden. Get help.

But Heather tells her there is no help and Mina's heart breaks just a little. Her best friend doesn't comprehend the full situation yet, and she's already hurt, heading towards broken.

Mina does her best to let Heather know that her murder wasn't her fault. She can feel the dream ending. Reality starts to intrude and Heather's wounds bleed into the dream world, the halfway place between the dead and the living.

Just shut up and get out of here.

She gives her the message one last time, hoping it sticks with her once she wakes up.

In the Bible Michael is the archangel who defeated a dragon.

When she was younger her Michael saved her from a dragon, slayed it with flaming sword, back when she was still young enough to play the maiden, (admittedly, she was the one who put herself in front of the dragon).

He had to be a bloody saint, the crap he put up with.

First the wizard, then the life sucking vampire brother and that giant dog, Mouse. Far too much for his little apartment.

Mister put up with a lot, there was no two ways about it. Even let the spirit creature come along for a ride every once in a while.

But for all his grumbling Mister was a good soul. He'd chosen Harry as his pet and he wouldn't turn his back.

Wouldn't be charitable.

And he'd miss the ear scratches.

He'd win the old mans approval, if only to make it until he was out on his own.

Once he was 18 he was so outta here.

Harry wiped the sweat off his forehead and went back to digging a hole for the fence post. He still didn't understand why old Ebenezer didn't buy a post whore from the feed store. Everyone else around here had one.

Didn't his guardian know it was almost the 1990's? Why did everything have to be done the old fashioned way?

Shaking his head, Harry hoped he never got to be that old.

He blinked.

Then he did it again to be sure.

Harry had heard the expression before but he didn't think it ever happened literally.

Just how hard in the head would a guy have to be hit to actually see stars? Especially someone with as much experience in the concussion area as he had.

He blinked again and realized he was on his back, staring at the night sky.

At his side Mister meowed and headbutted him in the side, then wandered back into his apartment.
